Dear Doris

The day is pleasant. After three days of stormy weather it has cleared off cold. The thermometer is 30°. I have just hung out my clothes. I washed Pa's flannels were out in the rain & they dried at night they looked good & clean when I took them in early this morning.

The wind blew during the nigt [[night]] after the moon came up which was just enough to keep Pa awake most all night so he is fit to tie this morning. he has done the dishes & brushed up the floor around, but is pretty fussy. I hope he dozes off in the middle of the day. Mornings are hard to get through. I am afraid you will be nerved up all the time you are home but I suppose you are anxious to see for yourself the state of affairs but hope you don't get another cold by the means.

Ralph & Maude were here Sunday night. She brought me a good generous hunk of sponge cake. She is a good cook & a fine cake maker.
