Dear Doris

We are having cool weather since Friday. the rain came down in great abundance and did us a lot of good. the roses now are beginning to bloom. yesterday was a most beautiful day & bids fair to be just another [[strikethrough]] just [[/strikethrough]] such a one today.

[[name obscured by ink blot]] was buried Friday Alice went to the funeral with Mabel Southworth. she said she looked nice.

I am trying to get dinner but its hard to get up steam to make the fire go everything is damp. The Bruces paid me the rent. She called me down & said he was trying to make a living by carrying bundles. it was slow work but better than nothing. its hard to find jobs if one gets out of one, they are honest & he may stike something better he seems an ingeneous man
