I went down town this morning + got a box of strawberries the second box we have had this season. 23 you see things are higher here then I got my checks cashed + paid Ralph the dollar. after that I told him I wanted to draw out the money we had in the bank as we were going to have the old house on Seaver St fixed up + painted + the money would be handy to put it to some use in preserving the property than to have it where it was + Pa was anxious for me to draw it out, as it would be sometime before the [[shares?]] would mature. so they gave me a check + they cashed it with his name backing it and my signature under it. $346.38. I did not tell Pa I was afraid it might get him keyed up so you need not mention it in your letters. that will more than pay for the painting. but I can put the rest away. there ought to be something done towards fixing up the front hall sometime, but not now, Pa is too excitable he would go wild to mention it even, every thing excites him he cant bear to have me spend a cent, he feels so poor all the live long time. it keeps me stirred up so I hide things the best I can to avoid a [[?]]. There are showers coming up all around us I hope + pray we get some rain I am airing out the little den terrible hot inside. cooler tomorrow the paper says. terrible oppressive this afternoon. Ma just five O'clock now.
