of it as the building would look bare without them, like George McGarveys upposite (no fancy work) now this house without blinds, would look well on account of so much fancy (two kinds of paints) he spoke of that old shed in back of the house that the roof was all gone to pieces on that would spoil the looks of the house after it was painted, he was planning to find a way to knock it down & he said that he would do it. that has made the shed turn black from its keeping the sun away. the trees are bad enough. he could do it for us in June as well as any time if you would like it, he says thats a good month.

Louie is true blue & would not take advantage of his friends when they are down & out. He asked me if the Blake place had changed hands. from the carpenter calling Percy up on the telephone to ask about the painting of it, led them to think it might have been sold.

I have just had a very pretty may basket sent me from Kate, full of hot house flowers - tea roses, sweet peas three shades & filled in with asparagus ferns. a yellow basket lined with dark pink in a light green fancy paper. she sent it up by the big girl Gracie. Kate is too generous for her own good. she is very fond of giving. Louie wishes she would come to his old house where his new wife is as it makes it awkward for his wife & it plagues them both. the houses are so near. I told him it was too bad, but I did not think there was any thing she had against them. he takes lots of comfort in singing her praises to me. she is pretty. but has a glass eye.
