Jim says that no permits are granted for the bonfires, they have had more than they can attend to lately in town & the adjourning towns around it & so they have just shut down on every body. but I notice people have them, two right besid [[beside]] us, were going all day yesterday, & I even contributed to them by putting rubbish on them & wasn't Pa mad. he shook me when I came in. but after he went up stairs I put some more on, they went off down town & left it, so I kept it raked up & it was fun to see it go. the leaves wer [[were]] just damp enough so that there was not a particle of danger.

He was outwitted & what he didn't know would not hurt him. our robin on the patieo [[patio]] has built a very high nest. I am sure she is going to have a big litter & hope she will have good luck this time.

This afternoon the sun shines out but the wind is cold to stay out long. I have just been over to feed the little dogs a few scraps left from the dinner. The new puppie [[puppy]] is afraid of me & barks. so I am going to get him acquainted by feeding him, he is more affectionate than the other one after he gets over being afraid Doris & George say he is a little hound & is not used to seeing people.

I want to go down town but its [[it's]] such a job I hate to go through it the questions & objections spoil all the pleasure a regular now, but I went & brought home a bag full of geoeeeies [[groceries]] that I needed he wants his own way & has lost his judgement. too bad. it gets my goat sometimes
