Stoughton Dec 26th 1932

Dear Doris
Its pleasant to day, but windy as usual after clearing off. I have been carting off my ashes from the back door steps as they are thawed out during our warm spell about 8 pails full. they wont accumulate there any longer. I split up a few boards for kindlings yesterday as it was a good warm time to be out in the air. now theres nothing more to be prepared for the next cold blast to come.
This forenoon as I had just got Pa sat down to his dinner + my own landed into my own plate + coffer all turned out + just thinking how good my dinner was going to taste. I heard some body nock at the kitchen door. on going who should stand there but Percy Woods + the dog. he stayed an hour talking. then I went to find the dinner cold + Pa departed for up stairs. well I warmed up the dinner again. then sat down to eat, Pa sneaked down + dipped in with his teaspoon + eat out of all the dishes again, even taking up my coffee cup + drinking so you see I did not have to eat alone funny how things turn out.
