Dear Doris

This is a cold winter day, our cold wave brought on the luls of it a snow storm, we woke to find the ground covered with show & the wind North & still snowing. it is a dismal day as you may believe, I am trying to drown it by working. Pa is  seart if the heat goes above sixty & still he likes to feel warm. I feel our winter has begun in earnest at last.
Your letter failed to appear yesterday but I guess every thing is all right & this will come Monday. this is the first time it has failed us to come for a long while. Did you read of Bruce [[?]] the little Mara child did you ever see the luck of it? I hope it wont prove serious. that Ford my bakes killed two children out right, they took his license away for a year, he is a wreck under the Dr's care, he was a nice man, every one liked him, its too bad such is life. I am scart of the auto & they get to going too fast & I wonder there are not more
