I broke up my big begonia I had in the box Sid took upstairs & made three separate pots of it & the most ungainly one I gave to the Ballentines. She seemed to be very much pleased with it & went right to work hunting up a big flower pot to set it in. The box it was in was rotted through on the bottom so I had to put in another pot. The maples between our two houses are all yellow & they look very cheerful. I have been trimming the grape vines where they run up intro the trees yesterday. It takes the strength of the vine some of the bigger bunches were under the trees concealed by the branches.
I haven't seen Balphs folk since you went home. Maude called me on the phone to know how to make barberry sauce one day after I had gone up stairs for a nap. I suppose she wanted to see if I felt grouchy towards them.

PS It has poured & the wind was a gale, so hard it blew it scared Pa. He said we should be flooded. He couldn't sleep so came into my bed about two & after he got there he went to sleep, but I couldn't for an hour or more. It's going to be another rainy day I fear gloomy weather but not very cold yet. I hope to get this letter off this noon.
