Personally appeared before me Frederic Speed Clerk of the Circuit Court in and for the County of Warren, State of Mississippi J. H. Gordon who being duly sworn deposeth and saith that upon the 25th day of November inst. Bt Captain York A. Woodward Asst to A.A.I. General Sub Dist of Mississippi turned over to Capt C. G. Fisher Sixty (60) Tie Bales of Cotton, directing him to retain the same in his possession - "clear of all proof of Civil Law and for the purpose of paying all the claims of the laborers on said plantation;" that a true copy of the order, aforesaid, is herewith attached, marked "A.". That said deponent believes that he is lawfully entitled to said sixty bales of cotton, he having furnished all the means used in raising the same. That he made tender to Capt Woodward of a sufficient sum of money
