Hd Qrs Sub-Dist. of Lauderdale. Bu. R.F. and A. Lands. Lauderdale, Miss. Aug 31', 1867 Bv't. Lt. Col. H.W. Smith. A.A. Genl. Bu. R.F and A.L. Vicksburg, Miss. Colonel, I have the honor to report that I was relieved of the charge of the Sub-Dist. of Corinth by Bv't. Maj. Geo S. Smith, on the 30th inst. and have entered upon duty as Sub-Ass't Commissioner, Sub Dist of Lauderdale, in compliance with Special Order – of date, Vicksburg, August 20', 1867. As I did not assume charge of this Sub-Dist, until the last day of the month, and am unacquainted with the business transacted by this office prior to my arrival, I am unable for the present month to make the monthly report required by Circular Letter of date July 25∼, 1867.
