L. R. Vol. 45 ("R") (C.A.) 4th M.D., 1867. M#85 F. B. S. M. Vol 2, 1867 Adams Co Miss Oct 19th\'7 Gillespie Jas. A. States that he has had a case carried [[??]] before Col Biddle by some freedmen whom he employed to work his place. the decision of which he is not satisfied Encloses copy of contract made with freedmen which is signed by all but one Juo [[??]] Williams the teamster to whom he agreed to pay 12/pr month in money during the season Williams worked in the crop & was considered a field hand & the best on the place. In arranging to divide the crop he claimed Williams share as his own as he had assisted in making the crop he was entitled to a share. the freedmen objected on account of Williams' name not being on the contract & carried the case before Col Biddle who decided that as Williams did not sign the Contract he had no interest. Appeals from his decision to the Genl Comdg & requests his interference in his behalf.
