Isaac Mitchell Col. appeared before me this A.M. & made his statement. Which I investigated as will as possible. by hearing one side of the question. I also carefully red his contract

He states he left the Plantation in search of an other place - but without success & on returning Mr Stephenson had a talk with him persuaded him - to remain on the place & go to work. which he did for a full day till he got the Crop out of Grass. he then left the place again [[strikethrough]] T [[/strikethrough]] & found work. he then sent for his clothes &c but was refused them by Mr Stephenson on the grounds that he wanted Isaac to return to his place & stay the balance
