When the girl is first confined she wears a kind of small mitts which admit only the fingers and are joined by a band made of fancy fragments of fur covered skin. This band is passed over the back of the neck and is so short that the hands in the mitts are held about as high as the breasts with the elbows bent or hanging down at sides- These mitts & string are worn all the year of probation and for a time after she goes about outside.

She must always keep her head covered with her parkie hood during her year of probation.
