Austin Miss Feb 4th 1868
Sir
I have been illegally and unjustly dealt with by a board of arbitration in the office of the asst of the Freedmen's Bureau at Austin Miss trying to settle [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] accounts against Dr Williams brought up both negros and white men. My father has a farm twelve miles south east of Austin which was rented to Dr Williams for the year 1867 Dr Williams took a partner in with him by the name of Barnhill. Dr Williams was to furnish land stock and provisions Barnhill was to hire the hands pay them and receive one third of the crop, Williams knew nothing about farming nor did Barnhill consequently they made a failure as as for my father I got a distress warrant and had Williams property sold which did not pay half the rent the property was levied upon and due notice given and there was no claims brought up until I became rightful possessor
My Dear Sir I was an inocent [[innocent]] [[strikethrough]] purchaser [[/strikethrough]] purchaser. And then after the sale was over there was accounts made for the negroes some were right some were not. And then Mr Barnhill brought up accounts against Williams which were unjust made out to his [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] own liking and allowed By the Board of arbitration (So called)(Before I go any farther let me tell you that Williams was not there nor was he represened [[represented]] all sides were not justly dealt with Instead of Barnhill Paying the hands (The books will show that he ought to have done it) Capt Mannin (Bureau Agt) is going to make me pay it not only negro accounts But accounts made
