I went to Carrollton myself and insisted upon the money being turned over as ordered. The money was turned over and receipted for by Mr. C C Walden Agent Bureau R.F. and A.L. and is now under my charge. It is my intention not to pay the freedmen until I receive instructions from the General Commanding. And in this connection would respectfully state that I am convinced that there is a disposition on the part of D. Robinson the landlord, the Sheriff and Russell S Somerville Atty. for the landlord to defraud the freedmen from their just dues and that if my action in this case is not sustained by the General Commanding they never will receive a farthing for their two years labor. I would also state that about twenty (20) freedmen were employed as the Holly Grove for stated wages who still remain unpaid with no means of their being paid from Cotton raised on said plantation the same having been disposed of. I would therefore respectfully ask that they may be paid from the proceeds of Cotton raised on the Robinson plantation. The amount due them is Ten hundred, fifty nine 90/100 (1059 90/100) dollars.

Very Respectfully
