State of Mississippi  Circuit Court
Lee County  Nov term A.D. 1868

The Grand Jurors of the State of Mississippi elected empanelled sworn and charged to enquire in and for the body of the County of Lee upon their oaths present that Henry Duke freedman - on the 18th day of November A. D. 1868 in the county aforesaid a certain gun loaded and charged with gun powder and leaden bullets which gun the said Henry Duke freedman then had and held did then willfully and feloniously attempt to shoot and discharge it and against one Wm Evans with intent in so doing there and thereby willfully feloniously and with malice aforethought to kill and murder the said W Evans against the State of Mississippi
