Ord, and Mr. W.D. Longstreet was appointed agent to take charge and dispose of said crop. He has disposed of cotton and corn to the value of $3.564 01, and now has an attachment upon $1.220 now in the hands of Messrs Buck & Fuller of Mobile, the proceeds of 27 bales of cotton, which Major Smith, the Sub Asst. Com'r shipped to them for the benefit of the laborers.

According to the contracts, after deducting the amounts received by the freedmen, there is still due them the sum of $4,253.22, and as yet no evidence has been given of an intention on the part of Longstreet & Co. to make any settlement
