together with the books containing all the records.  It is supposed they were disposed of by an enlisted man of the 5th Cav. who was serving in the office as clerk, and who is now in the Penitentiary of this State, serving out a sentence for forgery.

It is impossible for me to give a list of these discharges, as the books contained the only record.  Some of these men never have applied to me for information concerning their bounty; and I wish to be informed, if, in case these claims have not been fraudulently collected, there is not some means by which these men can obtain certificates of service upon which their bounty can be collected.
