     Dear[[hi?]].
I have the honor to acknowledge the rept of your favor of the [[?]] visit. I will of course assist the ladies, when they arrive, to the utmost of my ability.
I would respectfully but strongly recommend that JH Crawford the present teacher be aprissed to duty (for the present at least) in [[Mamentin?]]. The Freedmen that have been so long promised a teacher, and so often disappointed that they are almost in despair They are paying out for the building they occupy, or will soon commence doing so - Besides they are very desirous of having Mr Crawford's presence to any other teacher.
And this reason for the recussal of Mr C-A@-[[?]] from this place, is the fact that his board has always been paid by contribution of twenty-five cents or about that mostly from each scholar. This should go to Miss Miller, or her salary will scarcely more than pay her board and necessary expenses, but as Mr C- is set a mistake not/any fond of the dollar, whether gold or greenback, it will probably be difficult to direct the contribution from him to Miss M He may claim that he ought to have it for preaching.
These are surmises at present, but I desire to have Miss M- meet with no trouble or opposition and she ought to have the benefit of such contributions as can be furnished.
Miss Hudson should have another teacher present with her. I fear she may have a discussion going in Lanesburg from the [[?]] - Let me hear from you
    Respectfully
    Tho H Hay.
