Granville County, N.C. May 18th, 1867

The bearer Jerry Kittrell (Freedman) is living with me and is without provisions, and has neither credit or money to purchase them; and I am unable to aid him. He has a wife & five children and they are in a suffering condition; and unless he can get gratutious aid from some quarter they must suffer extremely. His case is respectfully submitted to the favorable consideration of those having the distribution of provisions among the destitute.
