unpacked and each species put in a separate jar. A large part of the specimens collected by W.A. Stearns was sent to this department where it was sorted before being distributed to the different curators. A special set of duplicates was prepared for the Mt. Vernon Seminary, Washington, D.C. 
It consisted of a large series of several common species for class work.
