doubts that are passing through a lot of our minds

[00:18:33]
Yeah.

[00:18:35]
No doubt that there a lot of things that should be passing through our minds that are not. For instance that we have Pete Seeger that we have Theodore Miquelle here and to us to a lot of us here in Mississippi we haven't heard these men before. But

[00:18:47]
Yes sir

[00:18:48]
You see up north the people have heard of 'em. They've sung all over the United States and practically all over the world no doubt.

[00:18:56]
And and they haven't come down here just to sing songs from another country or songs that they sing up north anything like that. But they've come here to sing again with us Freedom songs.

[00:19:09]
For had freedom songs from another country but they're freedom songs and this is the thing that we have to keep in mind that not only here in the United States, not only here in America that are people fighting for freedom but all over the United States and all over the world.

[00:19:25]
Yeah.

[00:19:26]
So I think this is a good thing to keep in mind. When these men come here for us to sing some of them are gonna try and teach us songs from another country probably or teach us songs that they have written about the movement in the south or about the movement period. And I think we should should pay attention and try to listen to some of these things.

[00:19:45]
Some of these men have been going through some of the same things that we've been going through. Perhaps not in the same way but they've been going through it too.

[00:19:52]
You see that when we speak in terms of a movement we have to think in long-range terms. Every little bit composes a movement.

[00:20:00]
Yeah

[00:20:01]
From writing your name down on a property bond to marching downtown and going to jail. This is the movement

[00:20:07]
Yeah

[00:20:08]
From sitting in an office all day, you see, to passing out leaflets on the streets, this is the movement.

[00:20:15]
Yes

[00:20:16]
Or even just going downtown and talking to that white man that you spend your money with, you see.

[00:20:21]
This is the movement. I think we have to look at it in long-range terms

[00:20:25]
We came out here today to sing we are gonna do more than sing too. We gonna get some of you people that been intimidated and harassed all your lives here in Mississippi to come up and tell us about some of these things

[00:20:36]
"I think these things are not only interesting but they are important

[00:20:41]
You see you can, your next-door nei--, you get beat, you get killed, and your next-door neighbor doesn't even pay any
