I have just been to dinner. Pa spoils eating for me, so I ate out in the kitchen. he seems provoked when I get up a dinner, he would not eat. I some times think I will eat alone & let him eat when he pleases & as he pleases. all he lives for is trouble & spoils life for all around him. will it ever be any different. he is gloating now over so much snow. I cant go & no body can come to the house. he listens down through the register when any one comes to see me. so after they are gone he finds fault over what is said. jealous & terrible suspicious I never knew he had such qualities in his make up. he had rather freeze than to have the heat turned on in the afternoon. so rather hear him rave I give in & let him have his way. It seems to have been growing colder since noon the wind has sprung up and it will be a cold night. February is going out with a winters grip.

Alice was not at home last night, so I visited Hattie Tucker Packard. she was there all alone. Percy had gone to the factory to watch. she told me about her self & how she lost her boy. she has seen trouble & since she has been sick, her legs trouble her. the small veins swell when she is on her feet & she is afraid it will affect the larger ones & become varicose veins. she is just my age. I rather pity her she has always been wealthy and had everything & was pittied [[pitied]] now she may stay on with Alice for all the chambers are not heated. Alice needs the money for her board. all she gets is her Brockton support & she gives eight dollars to Alice for board rather high is'nt [[isn't]] it. Ma
