Stoughton February 12th 1933

Dear Doris

Saturday morning we woke up to the biggest snow storm of the season & found every thing covered with it & going hard. well I found my books were due to go in the 11th so there was nothing for me to do. but go down with them. then the snow was two feet on a level & snowing to beat the band, no breaking out had been done. but I had some good high over shoes & a good warm coat. thanks to Lena & you. the autoes made my only path. I got down all right, Alice had got the book read all but a dozen pages, which she easily finished. before I got back after doing my erronds [[errands]] down to the square, as I told her I would stop on my way back & get the books. but the walking up pleasant street would have been much easier for me, on account of the paths made by more traffic. first I went to cobbs but they said the almanac had not come then I thought hang it, lets try the corner store & luck was there on my side. they said theres [[there's]] just one left. so I got her to do it up good & I mailed it round the corner to the post office & presume it got there by now. so my journey was not for nothing as I got stamps & more envelopes & mailed two letters. then the journey home was
