Dear Doris 

We are having a change in weather an east wind blew up strong in the night & brought with it a raging storm. its [[it's]] very raw & a bad day to the be in it outside. we like to hug the fire such a day as it is very penetrating.

I went downtown last night after supper. to get the almanac but they had none but said by the first of the week they would get it so then I went to the first national market to get some lamb .20 worth for a stew. the second piece of meat we have had since the thanksgiving chicken. so their was a change in our bill of fare Pa liked his dinner & eat of the meat he likes to chew something in his mouth all the day long. I am serving today there 89 squares I have already got made & still at it I dont [[don't]] know when I shall begin putting it together. The serving is facinating [[fasinating]] & good pick up work . I remember as a child Charlie & I began a quilt I was not older than Doris, Mother baisted [[basted]] my squares & Celia did his we sewed them over & over the seam, you must let Mrs Cutting
