Dear Doris.

Not a bad day after so windy a night. the wind blew a gale most all night long. but to cap all after it blew out at 4 this morning. a fire alarm was ringing on Lincoln Street. it was the old Bell house, next to Fred Churchill & owned by his son Walter given him by his mother Bessie Churchill. he was fixing it up to let. I think it was burned on the back side & dont [[don't]] know whether it was insured or not, but hope so. There seems to be a fire bug in town some where & hope they find him before he does any more mischief. I don't know what comfort there is in destroying property. they must crave excitement & pity they could not be put to work.

I have my bed quilt almost done I worked some on it this morning & got just a little more to knot & then I can bind it around the edge which will finish it so those pieces I have worked up very satisfactorily with a few more that I managed to find myself kicking around. it is all new cloth & the cotton was good
