Dear Doris

Cool & cloudy. I have just come down from having a good nap after dinner. There is no change in the daily or nightly program. it does seem good to sleep in the day if the nights are so horrible to drag out. I will be glad if there ever comes a time when the hours are not so long nights. you are having a terrible time down there in that beastly climate with those chigyers [[chiggers]] & mosquitoes. I managed to kill one last night on me the only one I have had in the house all summer thank goodness. your letter with a post card from Lena came this forenoon. none yesterday the mails were clogged up. since the rain we are not suffering so much with our gardens I would like to see my tomatoes but dont feel equal to going so far yet. I mean to ask the Smith boy when he comes to mow if there are any ripe on my vines. I cant [[can't]] seem to get hold of any from any team Mrs Ballentine says they had a mess of hot house that were good but they are most of them hard & tough. Mrs Gilzers boy has the pleurisy so she did not come over last night just telephoned.
