Dear Doris

Another sunny day. the painting is still going strong. Louie begun on the back side & he is painting now over the kitchen door. I spoke to the Lithoanian [[Lithuanian]] & he came today & fixed the steps so now theres [[there's]] nothing to hinder his going ahead & doing the job. his wives son twenty five years old, who is living with them, has taken the blinds over to the barn & perhaps he will paint them. Louie asked me if I wanted that hot water boiler over there by the barn. he said he would pay me something for it as it was just what he had been looking for. he has pigs down to his house in the woods & that would be good to water them in. sawed off as he wanted to. there is enough ingenuity about him to know how to manage his boat. it has been laying there four years or more & I would be glad to get rid of it & if it would be of use to him he is welcome to it. dont [[don't]] you say so? Pa has got over his nervousness he is very natural so far. today Louie is here alone & very quiet. I guess Pa will now get used to his being on the job & be calm. I went down to post the letter & to carry my book to Percy to read & saw Mrs Drake on her piazza waiting for Evelyn & went over there to console her
