Pa's life now is certainly a sad example of the latter kind but he is taking comfort in coming down & always finding a full plate & warm drink & quiet atmosphere. we are doing so much to make him comfortable & he sleeps his time away & God almighty will no doubt furnish the rest. the hereafter is unknown to us all. I have just had my dinner. the sun has gone in & its a snowy feeling air. they say a great many snow storms are predicted for winter. its yet to be proved though. the oaks are the only trees that return any of their leaves & it look grey and bare. so thanksgiving wont look as if it come too soon. I dont think that Lenas presence will add to our enjoyment as our nerves dont respond to any unnecessary excitement. Mrs. Osborn takes pleasure in Alices books she is a quiet concientious [[conscientious]] little being & is getting used to all our ways. Pa is filling up the expantion box of his own accord. the first thing he has done for a long time. James is not coming for me today. my leg seems more natural feeling since a good nights rest. I feel its coming to its own & it is very pleasing to me after so long a siege my nerves are much stronger he says its a nervous trouble, due to the trouble I was in & had no way of shaking off. this same old atmosphere. its time I was thru with letter writing. so will close it by telling you the sun is shining once more. no letter from you to day but it may come this afternoon as its only a little after two O'clock Ma it came all right
