In compliance with instructions received from the Commissioner Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands of date March 22nd 1866, officers of this Bureau will assume the work of collecting claims of colored soldiers and sailors and their families against the Government for back pay, bounty, pensions &c., free of charge, except revenue stamps and Notaries' fees.
Claims will be forwarded through this office to Major General O. O. Howard, Commissioner. Necessary blanks will be furnished at the earliest possible moment.
