Bureau Refugees Freedmen Abandoned Lands,

Vicksburg Miss., October 30. 1865

Property Orders No. 33

I  All property held as abandoned or confiscable by officers of this Bureau in the Northern District of Mississippi (to wit: in the counties of Desoto Marshall, Tippah, Tishomingo, Itawamba, Pontotoc, LaFayette, Panola, Tunica, Coahoma, Calhoun, Tallahatchie, Yalobusha, Chickasaw, Monroe Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Choctaw, Carroll, Holmes, Attala, Winston, Noxubee, Kemper, Neshoba, Leake, Madison, Rankin, Hinds, Scott, Newton, Lauderdale, Clark, Jasper, Smith and Simpson,) is hereby restored to the lawful owners thereof.

This order is given subject to all leases that may have been given for any of said property by a duly authorized agent of the United States and not yet expired, and is not to be understood to invalidate the right of the United States to seize and confiscate any of the property, abandoned on confiscable, above returned, should such property be found subject to confiscation.

This order in no way recognizes any right of the owners of any of the property above returned to claim from the United States any damages or back-rents for the use of any of this property.

II  In compliance with instructions from Major General O.O. Howard, Commissioner of Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands;

1. J.J. Boyd, citizen of Adams County, Miss., is hereby placed in possession of all lands, lots, houses & tenements formerly owned by him and now under control of officers of this Bureau.

2. Alice Hackett, citizen of Vicksburg, Miss., is hereby placed in possession of all lands, lots, houses, and tenements formerly owned by her and now under control of officers of this Bureau.

3. Sarah A.E. Garland, citizen of Vicksburg Miss., is hereby placed in possession of all lands, lots, houses and tenements formerly owned by her and now under control of officers of this Bureau. 

4. Samuel B. Wall, Clara A.J. Wall, and Martha B, Stith, citizens of Warren County, Mississippi, are hereby placed in possession of all lands, lots, houses and tenements formerly owned by them and now under control of officers of this Bureau.

5. Mrs. R.H. Crump, citizen of Vicksburg Miss., is hereby placed in possession of all lands lots houses and tenements formerly owned by her and now under control of offices of this Bureau.

6. S.J. Love, citizen of Natchez Miss., is hereby placed in possession of all lands, lots, houses and tenements formerly owned by him and now under control of officers of this Bureau.

7. Mary Bancroft, citizen of Natchez Miss., is hereby placed in possession of all lands, lots, houses, and tenements, formerly owned by him and now under control of officers of this Bureau. 

8. Jacob Oates, citizen of Warren Co., Miss., is hereby places in possession of all lands lots houses and tenements formerly owned by him, and now under control of officers of this Bureau.

9. E.C. Laughlin, citizen of Copiah Co., Miss., is hereby placed in possession of all lands lots houses and tenements formerly owned by him and now under control of officers of this Bureau.

10. Mrs Narcissa M. Hope, citizen of Warren Co., Miss., and Mrs Agnes P. Donaldson, citizen of Holmes C., Miss., are hereby placed in possession of the "Terrill" Plantation, situate in the County of Warren State of Mississippi said plantation having formerly been the property of Mrs Martha E. Terrill, deceased, of whom the parties above mentioned are heirs at law. 

This order is given subject to all leases that may have been given for any of said property by a duly authorized agent of the United States and not yet expired, and is not to be understood to invalidate the right of the United States to seize and confiscate any of the property of the parties above mentioned, should such property be found subject to confiscation.
