Central District and reported to him May 11/67. Said Freedwoman had three children bound to J. Faust of Alamance Co. in 1866 by the Agent at Hillboro and according to her own statement made at this office it was done at her request she going herself with J. Faust to Hillsboro for that purpose. The indenture was made out as the children being orphans, and on this the County Court here rebound them June 1866. There is no prospect that the Courts will cancel these indentures, as it can be proven that the mother gave her consent being unable to support the children at that time.|

Dismukes is correct. A lot of "Faust" names in Alsance Co., NC. The males names first initials were J., C., M. N., or B. - 1870 US Census. A lot of men with first names starting with a "J.".
