July 19, 1957 Dear Mr. Farago: It is only today that I received your letter of July 15th from England as I am away from New York and difficult to reach by mail. You are advising me that the owner of the marble bas-relief which I examined with your in Zurich has agreed to sell it for the sum of [[underlined]] Swiss francs [[/underlined]] 40,000 (forty thousand) and that you are thus fully habilitated to deliver this sculp- ture against check of this amount. I hereby wish you to know that I am buying this bas-relief at the price indicated, provided, however, that it will be de- livered to Dr. Drack in Zurich before August 20th. It is my understanding, as you told me previously, that your com- mission is included in this above mentioned figure. Within the next few days I shall thus send out to Dr. Drack a check of Swiss francs 40,000 {forty thousand) made out to your order in full payment of this purchase, against delivery to him of the bas-relief and of your receipt stat- ing that it is in full settlement and in accordance with the authorization of Mr. G. B. Lanz, the present owner. I have also taken cognizance of Dr. Wilhelm's letter which I consider gives me full appeasement as regards the bona fide ownership. In view of this, I would ask you to com- municate at your earliest convenience with Dr. W. Drack at Uitikon-Zurich whose address you have. I am very glad to be able to have this first business trans- action with you and with personal regards, Sincerely yours, Germain Seligman Joseph Farago Astra Park, Kings' Sutton Nr.
