3767 - A very nice portrait of the 18th century English School by HARLOW, the great contemporary of LAWRENCE with whom he worked in the same studio, and whose things art very often sold as being by LAWRENCE.

3984 - A very important 18th century English portrait by Sir Thomas LAWRENCE of Prince Metternich. Sir Thomas LAWRENCE painted two portraits of Metternich; the one which he painted for George III which is now in the Waterloo Gallery, Windsor Castle, and the second one which he especially went over to Vienna in 1815 to paint for Metternich himself. This picture has remained in the Metternich family since the time it was painted until we acquired it from one of the descendants.

4450 - A very interesting sketch by Sir Thomas LAWRENCE showing a typical head of a mother and child by this artist in its unfinished state.

4455 - A very interesting early portrait of John Clerk, later Lord Eldin, the celebrated Edinburgh lawyer by Sir Henry RAEBURN, R. A. This picture is fully recorded and has been exhibited in important ex-
hibitions, and we likewise have a very interesting certificate by James OREIG, the celebrated Scottish authority on RAEBURN's works and who has written several books on his life.

4594 - A very decorative painting of the 18th century English school by John OPIE. entitled "The Match Girl". It is likewise a very attractive portrait as she is wearing a bright red shawl with a yellow-
ish straw bonnet and holding in her right hand several reed matched. OPIE's works are now com-
ing into great prominence and are now realizing quite enhanced prices at the London sales.

4698 - A portrait of the 18th century English School by John SMART. We do not know whom this portrait represents, but it is a very interesting portrait, being extremely decorative in color owing to the brilliant red coat. It is beautifully painted and suggests Oilbert Stuart. Furthermore, as far as we know, it is the only large portrait ever painted by John SMART, the celebrated 18th century miniature painter.
