Dear Mr. Feigen,

It was very flattering to read your note of November 14th, asking me to identify the authorship of a painting.

I am truly at a loss - for I have no opinion. It is evidently inspired by an antique "Greek" probably bas-relief and I am wondering whether it was not the work of some artist for a school competition - but of what nationality and of what period escape me.

Were you able to identify the relief or perhaps its plaster cast, you might be able to get closer to a solution.

I am disappointed not to be of any greater help.

With all good wishes,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman

P. S. Herewith I am returning the photograph
