My dear Friend:

I was very glad, indeed, when I heard through Hans Waegen that you had safely arrived in South America, thus escaping the hardships of living in our unfortunate country today.

Hans told me that you had asked him to send you some information and photographs concerning 20th century paintings. Hans is answering you today, but has asked me to get together the photographs and give you the data on the pictures, as he himself has been terribly busy these last days.

Herewith enclosed you will find eight photographs of the works of:

Picasso
Braque
La Fresnaye
Modigliani

All these pictures are extremely representative, first-class 20th century paintings, and I feel sure that you will be very much interested in seeing these photographs. On a separate sheet, I am giving you some information regarding size, color, description, and price, which you will find useful, I know.

Hoping that we shall hear from you shortly, and wishing you the best of luck in South America,

Please believe me to be

Yours most friendly,

(C.M. de Hauke)
