Mr. Germain Seligman

New York, N.Y. 10022

Dear Mr. Seligman,

Last May I received a copy of Merchants of Art from Mrs. Parker who suggested that in the fall when you are back in New York I should bring it down for you to inscribe. I would be greatly honored if this could be brought about. Since I work Monday through Friday, the only time I could come down to your galleries would be over the weekend and I would appreciate if I could see you one Saturday in the near future. If you are closed Saturdays it is possible that I might be able to get away from work sometime during the week, although I would prefer not to.

When I picked up Merchants of Art last spring I wanted to pay for it, but Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Childs were adamant in refusing payment for the book as your firm is not permitted to sell it. Therefore, I should like to offer a donation equaling the price of the book to any charity of your choice and I wish that you would suggest to me either by return post or when I see you whom you would like to designate as the recipient of this gift.

In closing I should like to mention that I greatly enjoyed Merchants of Art and that I more than once found myself sitting on the edge of my seat while reading it.

In the next few days I shall call your secretary to find out if and when it would be convenient for you to see me.

In the meantime I remain

Sincerely yours,

Ronald Freyberger
