Brunswick Ga Jan. 14th 1867

Mr G.L. Eberhart

Sir
Yours of Decb 24th has been received and send you the name of the owner of the building, which I spoke of renting for a School Room for the freed people of this place B.M. Cargyle M.D. is the man I have shown him your letter and he stated to me that he should consider the house rented to the Govt for the freed men School for the term of one Year at $15 per month and as you state the rent payable monthly The building was nearly finished but it had become known that is was intended for a school and perhaps church for the freed people and some malicious persons upon the night of 24th Decb went and tore or threw it down off the blocks and materially injured the building, but the work of replaceing it and [[repepairing?]] it is going on and it is said will be ready this day week

You quite surprise me in your letter of Decb 13th
