Sunday Afternoon

Dear Doris -

Pa has written his sheets and now this is my turn at spreading on. I have been doing a little of everything this morning, my washing is out in the sun whitening, and now I am getting my oven heated up for baking off my bread. I had just got home from Abbies yesterday when in walked the Everett bunch; Charley, his wife, and Gladys, they stayed to supper & then went up to Horaces, from there, they were going home, but when Pa came home after closing up the store they were with him having made a mistake in the time Pa told them, so we put them up for the night, and routed them out of bed early and Pa went down with them so to make shure of getting them on, and starting them again. Charleys wife is capable of handling him we think. he lives at her home, she has another sister. Gladys is growing fleshy and very pretty also modest and makes a good appearance. Charley still carries a little clipping of your marriage, that he cut out of some daily paper, he is good dispositoned but a hard talker, he was greatly interested in those pictures of Guatemala. Harry is working in the Trust Company in Boston, and had just got home from a trip to Bermuda. Burt is down to Kittery - Maine. I was sorry to hear that you were feeling so mean, shall be glad to have you home again, and wish you might get a little sea bathing, the time will soon behave now when you can both be with us again. I have been feeling mean also but lay it to the heat - I lost all lost all apetite for food but think I am picking up, am tired out I guess, shall have a chance to rest up now Lena has gone. Lena has grown thin, the vacation so far has not been restful to her. hope she gets some of her aunt Cora's good vegetables to eat while she is gone, that what goes to the right spot with her. She is all carried away with John Hollis. and said she wishes we could see him and have Doris examine him. Abbie is failing the doctor comes to see her daily and he says the bloat has got to be got down, its water, so he changed her medicine I would like to know what he thinks of her. I think her mind is failing also, its hard to see her so, for she was such an active person, she ought to have someone come now and take good care of her, but is afraid the Vermont folks will hear about her being worse.

Thursday night Talbot came up to see us and spent the evening, it was that day that a woman came to the house to interview me on Mrs Eddie [[Eddy]], she was taking pictures of the places about Stoughton that she lived in & offered me fifty dollars for Mothers & Fathers pictures & also took a picture of the house with me standing outside. she is doing all this for history and is willing to pay handsomely for it she was a very interesting person Sue came with her to show her around town and and left her here, the woman will come again. Well I guess now I have touched on every thing you are interested in and will say adieu for now - hoping this will find you feeling better

Ma.
