Genl Bureau R.F & A.L Vicksburg Miss Sir In compliance with instruction contained in Circular letter of July 25th 1867. I have the honor to submit the following Report for the month of January 1868 [[2 columned table]] ---|--- 1st No of Freedpeople in the Sub Dist | 1st According to the census of 1866, there are 3769 Freedpeople in this Sub District 2d Their condition and how they are paid for their labor | 2d Their condition generally is good, though there are some in a bad condition in consequence of having been extravigant during the past year and their crops all used in paying their indebtedness. So far as I know the crops were divided satisfactorily and the Freedmen received compensation for their labor 3d Nature of Contracts | 3d The freedmen are generally contracting for stipulated portions of the crops Some are contracting for wages 4th No of Sick, infirm or Suffering from want | 4th I have knowledge of but few sick and suffering from want. There are (8) Freedpeople supported by the pauper fund of this County
