The Phillips 66 Trio
Besides sponsoring The Frank Phillips Trophy Race, high speed closed course classic of the International Air Races, Mr. Phillips has brought to Chicago the Phillips 66 trio, a group of motion picture stunt fliers that has no equal. The planes of this team are equipped with chemical tanks and leave a wide trail of smoke as they go through their intricate maneuvers singly together. Much of the performance, which lasts fifteen minutes, is done in front of the stands within 300 feet of the ground. A similar act staged at the 1933 National Air Races in Los Angeles is reported to have "panicked em" in theatrical parlance.

Major Ernst Udet
Major Ernst Udet, Germany's greatest living war ace, will appear for 15 minutes daily during the meet.
The German flier, who succeeded to the command of Richtofen's flying circus when the young baron was shot down, wears practically every German decoration. He is a past master at acrobatic flying. He loops with a dead motor, picks up a napkin from the ground with a wing tip of his plane, and does other dangerous stunts.
Major Udet recently thrilled with his daring at the 1933 National Air Races in Los Angeles. He also appeared at the 1932 National classic Cleveland.

Lieut. Tito Falconi
Lieut. Tito Falconi, champion acrobatic flier of the Royal Italian Air Corps, who was picked to represent the Fascist government through a contest in which more than 400 pilots participated, was one of the star performers at the 1933 National Air Races.
One of Falconi's specialties is inverted flying at which he is a past master. Recently he lost his record to Milo G. Burcham, Long Beach, California, aviation instructor, but the next day recovered it by flying upside down from lo Angeles to Santa Barbara and return, a distance of 200 miles, in two hours, eight minutes, and fifty-four seconds, exceeding Burcham's record by nearly 22 minutes.

H.E."Spud" Manning
The Pennzoil Company is sponsoring the "two-mile aerial high dive," as one of its contributions to the races. The leap is performed daily by H.E. "Spud" Manning, 24-year-old Los Angeles parachute jumper.
Capt. Merle Nelson, chief of acrobatic demonstrations for the International Air Races takes him aloft in a plane to a height of more than 11,000 feet. At this altitude Manning leaps out into space, falling free until he is less than 1,000 feet above the ground before pulling the rip cord of his 'chute. He carries a bag of flour in his arms, spilling it to form a trail of dust so the spectators may follow his course.
Manning's technique is as perfect as that of a championship driver. He is said to be the only man in the world who actually swims through the air. On his descent he can glide over a mile sideways and can loop at will. He can also increase or decrease his speed. By falling head first Manning can attain a velocity of 260 miles an hour and then reduce his speed to 90 miles per hour.
It is recognized that Manning is pioneering in an art possessing definite military value.
