Thompson Products Incorporated under the leadership of Fred Crawford, its president, has carried on the traditional encouragement of speed flying established in nineteen thirty by the late Charles Edwin Thompson, father of the America's greatest air racing classic: THE THOMPSON TROPHY RACE.

Each year Thompson Products Incorporated, in addition to sponsoring this event and awarding the Thompson Trophy, have posted larger cash prizes for the winners. This year, through the cooperation of the Ludlum Steel Company, the price money again has been increased.

Airplanes eligible for this event will be fifteen airplanes with motors of one thousand eight hundred and sixty cubic inches displacement or less having made the fastest speeds in the qualifying speed trials.

Distance is three hundred miles, thirty laps of the ten mile course.

Forty thousand dollars of the above total purse will be awarded to the winners of the first ten places on a division of prize money shown below.

Four thousand dollars of the above total purse and the Lundlum Award has been posted by the Lundlum Steel Company to be given the winner of the Thompson Trophy Race provided his speed exceeds the present National Air Race Record of two hundred point two hundred sixty one miles per hour.

One thousand dollars of the above total will be awarded as consolation prizes to all airplanes which start but do not finish in the first ten places, distributed as follows
Eleventh place, three hundred dollars
Twelfth place, two hundred fifty dollars
Thirteen place, two hundred dollars
Fourteenth place, one hundred fifty dollars
Fifteen place, one hundred dollars

The owner of the winning airplane, or an Aero Club be may designate, will be given possession of the Thompson Trophy for ten months from the date of the race. The pilot of the winning airplane will be awarded, for permanent possession, a Gold Plaque; the pilot of the airplane winning second place will be awarded for permanent possession, a Silver Plaque; and the pilot of the airplane winning third place will be awarded for permanent possession, a bronze plaque.

Prize Monday - First place, eighteen thousand dollars, second place nine thousand dollars, third place four thousand five hundred dollars, fifth place one thousand eight hundred dollars, sixth place one thousand five hundred dollars, seventh place is one thousand dollars, eighth place is eight hundred dollars, ninth place is six hundred dollars, tenth place is four hundred dollars.
