Steel Corporation
Pittsburgh, PA.
Watervliet, N.Y.

TO ALL PILOTS:
This year, the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation has DOUBLED the award to go to the pilot who sets a new average speed record in the Thompson Trophy Race. It is our hope this $4,000.00 prize may foster still greater records; that the wings in the sky at Cleveland in 1938 may write new achievements in the annals of aviation.

As a pioneer in the manufacture of fine steels since 1854, we are proud of our contribution to aviation's progress. In 1919 the Ludlum research department produced the now famous Silcrome Valve Steels that have had so much to do with the present high efficiency of airplane engines. Today, these valves are standard equipment in many planes. Allegheny Metal and Ludlum Tool and Nitralloy Steels have also made important contributions to modern aircraft design and production.

Our job is to help make possible better planes; yours to fly them to new records. Happy landing!

Very truly yours,
ALLEGHENY LUDLUM STEEL CORPORATION
