FAMOUS FIRSTS!

The winners in the annual National Air Race Speed Classics earn some of the most coveted honors the the world of racing can bestow. Cadillac, too, has established an impressive record of famous firsts which have helped chart the course of the automotive industry for almost four decades. For instance-

Cadillac is the world's only two-time winner of the famous Dewar Trophy-awarded for achieving interchangeability through standardization of parts and for equipping cars with electric starting, lighting and ignition.
Cadillac was first to offer closed bodies and security plate glass as standard equipment.
Cadillac built the first successful V-type engine in this country and has concentrated ever since on this university accepted design. 
Cadillac-LaSalle not only pioneered the clashless Syncro-Mesh Transmission but also introduced the Knee-Action ride. 
This year Cadillac introduced the precendent-breaking Sixty Special-widely acclaimed the newest car in the world. Sensational in appearance and performance, the Sixty Special in 1938's most popular car above the $2000 mark.
