as I expect you have many such applications. But I want to see our Colored people educated & thus elevated & prepared to discharge the great & responsible obligations that have so recently been granted to them; & I do hope you will be able to pay Mrs. Grimes a little to enable her to receive them into his school at 50 cts per month or even less - She has, until recently, been charging $1.00 & I advised her to charge only .50 cts. If you can, please help her. Again accept my thanks for your favor.

Yours Truly
R. B. Smith.
