Sir,
I have the honor to report that there is no school at this place, Col'd people have no church or school house, or ground. There are a large No. of children with in two miles of the place estimated at 60 or 70. The Whites are very averse to Col'd schools. I find the the people through this section extremely poor; not one in ten realized any thing from last years crop. They seem very anxious for a school but are able to do but very little. They have appointed a school board, as follows. Rev Ware Rucker, Wm Rucker, Armstead Rucker, Thomas Rucker, and Henry Rucker. The whites are very bitter against the Government, and the "nigger," through this country; The Bureau Agt is 35 miles of[[off]] and never comes into this part of his Dist.
I have the honor to be your obt. serv't
