Dear Folks,

Tomorrow is my birthday. A parcel came from Doris the first of the week, but I have not opened it, as I suspected it was for my birthday, and to-day Mrs. Cutting sent me a hand-appliqued handkerchief and a very lovely card with a short personal message on it. I think that it was very kind of her to do it, but I feel that she ought to keep her money more for herself. She must be a very unselfish person.

I am glad that your flowers and shrubs are coming out. They will be company for you. I hope that the housecleaning is all done. It is an upsetting performance for you both. I always dread it whether I am
