Dear Mrs. Holmes:

The mail you forwarded came this morning. I sent the enclosure to Boston right away before I was tempted to use it for something else. Sales are slow just now, as they usually are this time of year, but perhaps they will pick up again later. I hope so. This year I did not send Bunny a birthday gift, so later wrote and asked her if she would like some home-made candy or cookies. Yesterday I got a letter from her in which she chose the cookies. I guess I put my foot in it that time. Perhaps I can make some next Sunday, but I rather dread the job. She has been planning to go abroad in July. It does not seem a very good time to me, but I suppose she wants to do what her folks did before her. I don't believe she realizes conditions in Europe. I hope you are both well and getting outdoors now to enjoy flowers, birds and air.

Love, Lena
