Dear Mrs. Holmes:

I did enjoy your Christmas letter so much. I don't see how you can write so well when your eyes bother you so much. I have another friend - about 80 years old - and she has so much trouble writing, she seldom does, and I miss her letters. Then Aunt Maud - 73 or 74 - since her brother's death a few months ago, has quit her once in a while and she writes a good many letters, so all in all, I guess things are about as well for her as they can be.

Did I write you that my cousin Elizabeth had another baby boy last Oct. 9? That makes 3 children for her now.

My landlord brought in a notice of rent rise yesterday -one more fight to fight! Isn't it a strange world?

Much love to you and Mrs. Barry.

Lena

P.S Thank you for forwarding my check.
