Dear Mr. Holmes:

Here it is Friday night again. The weeks have a way of just flying by.

I suppose you saw the sunset to-night. It was beautiful with the reds, golds, and grays.

The painters have been doing the front outside of the store to-day, and, I suspect, kept some of my trade away.

I bought a hemstitching attachment for my machine, and to-day tried it out on

was out there, she got word to come on to Worcester to take a similar position there with increased pay. If Ruth approximates her ability, she should do well. I certainly hope she does.

How are you and what are you and Mrs. Barry doing these days? Has Doris gone back to work again now that there is more openings? I suppose the government may be cutting down on her type of work rather than promoting it, though, in favor of defense program work. I hope they all keep well.

I ought to write to Mrs. Legge. If you see her by chance, or telephone her, please tell her I think of her often, and still hope to see her in here again soon.

I sometimes think of all the jackets you used to crochet. I try to do a little making of knitted things, but am kept too busy with sewing and store routine to do much of it. One bright star is now where the sunset was a little while ago. In an hour's time, I hope to be on my way home, so goodnight.
With love,
Lena.
